Getting a Business Started Online

Starting a business online takes some research and work, so If you are not up to that, then there is no need to read further.

Unfortunately the perception of instant wealth online has been touted by many of the top marketers, and folks flock online in search of these 'instant riches'. It just doesn't work that way.
But, for those who are serious, and recognize that business is much the same online as off and takes time and effort, the internet is a great opportunity.

How to build an internet business

An online business begins with planning and research. Develop some ideas about products or services you think there may be a market for. Armed with these ideas, begin doing some serious research. Take your ideas, develop a list of keywords you think people would use when searching for this product or service, and use keyword tools to find out how many searches there actually are.

Keyword research is actually pretty interesting, and you may find that the terms you think would be used are not what the marketplace uses when they search. You need to think like a consumer, and put your search terms in their words.

Don't make the mistake of trying to create a market just because you favor a product or service yourself. Look until you find a market that is already established and seeking this product or service.

This is the one largest mistake made by new marketers online. Too many people get married to a product or service they like, but that there is really no market for. If you find this is the case, then don't try to fight it, just move on to another idea until you find one where there is a large enough market already interested, and where the competition is not overwhelming.
Keep in mind that there is a balance here. There will always be competition in a desireable market, and that is good as long as it is not too stiff.

This basic research is the one thing you must get right before you invest time and money trying to develop a business online. Take the time and do this right, and you could be on your way to online success.

Getting Traffic to Your New Website

Getting Traffic to Your New Website
By Richard Chase

Getting traffic to a new website seems to be an uphill climb, but there are ways.
But before you begin thinking about traffic make sure you have done your homework with your website and taken care of the on site factors. While it is true that off page SEO has more clout with the search engines, having your website ready is like laying the foundation for a house. Everything will build from there.

1. Have good content on your website. Original content is best. If you are going to use private label content on your site, it is still a good idea to rewrite it in your own words. And it doesn't hurt to add a little new content in to make it even more unique.

2. Make sure your site navigation is in place and that there are no dead ends or dead links.

3. Use your keywords within your copy, but don't overdo it. Keyword stuffing is not well tolerated by the search engines any more. Just make sure each page of your site is on topic and makes sense.

4. Link your pages to one another within the copy wherever it makes sense to do so.
All sites should be under construction in the sense that you will always be adding, or updating copy, but your site should be done enough to make sense. Never put......Read full article

Keep Your Niche Online Website Interesting

I have talked a lot about marketing online as opposed to internet marketing. Choosing a niche to market to for your home based online business is just a matter of numbers. It is much easier to bring visitors to a smaller niche website that to a site about internet marketing.

It is important to make your website friendly to visitors and deliver what they were searching for. Making your website interesting adds just one more element for the visitor that may keep them around long enough to buy something from you.

Here is an example of a website that has done just that. If you like cats, need a break from whatever you are doing, go to this website centered around cats and cat products, and click on the first video in the navigation menu. It will take away the cares of a long day if nothing else.

Stay Current With Online Marketing Methods

If you are going to be serious about marketing on the internet and developing a home based online business, then you must move with the times, and keep up with the ever changing environment of the internet.

Though it is a young medium, the internet has already gone through massive changes in it's young existence.

Bulletin boards, FFA's and safesites were once great ways to market, but eventually lost their impact.

Two of the best marketing methods today are article marketing and social bookmarking. Both of these activities are very effective and can be implemented at no cost except time and effort. Social bookmarking and article marketing are both methods that a new marketer with a small business budget is wise to study and put into action for online success.

Three or four years from now there will be new methods for marketing online. A marketer must always be paying attention to the changes that are happening on the internet and change methods as they present themselves.

Choosing a Niche Market

Niche Marketing Tips

To be successful with niche marketing, it is best to center in on a small area within a larger market.

For example, the main market keyword may be dogs. Dogs is a very large and a very competitive market. The topic of dogs has in the neighborhood of three million searches according to overture. But if you go to Google, you will find that there are 300 million websites about dogs. This figure varies somewhat from day to day, but the point is that is it a highly competitive term.

It is far better to find a niche topic within this field to center your website around. Choosing something like 'puppy training" or 'stop dog barking. This will show far less competition from other websites.

Drill down through the keywords and find the best search terms with the least competition. Assemble a list of many keywords with less searches, and less competition, and these can accumulate to a nice tidy total of search terms to target, and add up to a good number of searches.

Overture is used for example here. Something that will also help in your efforts in niche marketing is the use of more reliable keyword suggestion tools. Wordtracker is the favored search tool by most successful marketers on the internet.

Successful Affiliate Marketing

It seems that with affiliate marketing, people either find huge success or they fail altogether. How is it that people can read the same books, learn the same techniques, and yet only a handful succeed while all the other fail or have limited success?

I believe that it is because affiliate success does not come from a book or technique, but rather from a mindset or a way of thinking. After studying the most successful affiliate marketers, I believe they all share common attitudes about affiliate marketing, and that this more than anything is what has allowed them to become successful.

There are 8 keys that I have seen shared between the top affiliate marketers, and I believe it is these that separate the successful affiliate marketers from the unsuccessful. Here are the traits or practices that were common among the top marketers:

They have a solid, definite goal. They make a detailed plan to achieve that goal They focus on just one technique until they have mastered it They do not give up if they fail, but instead learn from it and try again They do not expect to make sales without first giving their visitors something They believe that they not only can, but will succeed They learn what they need to know and then take action They use their imagination and their brains instead of just copying others If you are having trouble with affiliate marketing, I am betting that if you are honest with yourself and look at that list you will see several areas where you may not be up to par. Perhaps you get too caught up in learning and never take action. Or perhaps you are the complete opposite and you take action before you have learned what you need to know.

You may have tried a few things and failed, but instead of picking yourself up and keeping going you just gave up and walked away. Or, perhaps you have scattered yourself thin between a variety of different marketing techniques and have become a "jack of all trades, master of none."

No matter where you feel your weakness lies, the good news is that all 8 of these common traits can be learned or put into action.

Will adopting these traits be easy? Some are easier to learn than others. Some will require time and a complete change of attitude. However, I believe that in the long run putting effort into changing your mindset to that of a successful affiliate will do much more to further your own success than anything you will ever learn in an e-book.

Baby Boomers and Website Design

If you haven't thought of Baby Boomers in regard to website design, you may want to review your thinking.

The first of the Baby Boomer group are turning 60 and they are retiring. Why should you care? For starters, Baby Boomers are the largest segment of our population. That would be a lot of people to ignore. And their needs and desires are going to differ from those of the, up to now, very young computer users. More about baby boomers and website design

Search Engine Placement vs. Page Rank

There is much talk among online marketers about search engine placement and page rank. Of the two, search engine placement has the most value for an online marketer.

Page rank is a value given by google to websites based on a number of criteria, but it is universally accepted that incoming links is the most valuable of these criteria. A number of criteria give weight both to page rank and search engine position.

While page rank may be considered impressive to some online marketers, it is good search engine placement that brings visitors and therefore revenue to your business website.

Both page rank and search engine placement may improve as you market your website in various ways, the most beneficial being gathering incoming links to your website.

As you promote your home based internet business, make your goal gaining a good search engine postition and don't worry too much about page rank. Visitors for the most part don't care about your page rank. They just care that they can find you in the first few results for a search term if your website features what they are looking for.

Putting All Your Business Eggs In One Basket

It is not good to put all your business eggs in one basket. I stress this over and over at Ezee Options.
The loss of the overture bid tool has to be a big blow to marketers who depend only on adsense sites for their income.
For a while it appeared the tool was gone for good. I see now they have a note they are updating it and that it will return soon. What they deem as soon, only they can know.
But, what if it was gone for good? For those relying only on adsense sites it would be a crucial blow.
This will probably serve as a wake up call for many who have relied on a very narrow segment of business on the internet.
While adsense as an addition to your site, or adding extra sites for adsense income can be a lucrative method of increasing revenue, it should be only that. Build a variety of businesses on the internet with varied markets, and insulate yourself, in the event that for some reason that particular market should run dry.

Inbound Links Required for A Profitable Home based Business Website

Inbound links are important to promoting your home based business on the internet. This article features some techniques that may be helpful to new marketers who are just learning the ropes.

Building Quality Inbound Links by Daniel Welsch

Quality inbound links are very important to the page rank your site will receive. Follow the steps below and you will be on your way to getting your page rank a boost in the right direction.
1.Install the Google Toolbar http://toolbar.google.com This will enable you to see the page rank of the site you are looking at.
2.Now do a search in Google for your top keywords.
3.Now start with the top of the list. Open each search result and see if it is related to your site. If it is write down the site url, the administrators email and the url of the sites link page. Do this for the first page or two of results looking for sites with a page rank of at least 1.
4.Take your list and start to email all the site admins asking for a link exchange. It may help if you link to their site before you ask to exchange links. Also make sure your not asking one of your competitors for a link exchange.
5.Now do a search in Google for "add site" "site submit" "add url" and some of your keywords. Your search should look like this Example: "site submit basketball". You should get a list of directories to add your site to. Submit your site to as many as you can that have a page rank of at least 1.
6.Make a list of all your top competitors and check where they get all their quality links from by entering their sites url in the iWEBTOOL Back Link Checker http://www.iwebtool.com/backlink_checker take those results and check out all the sites that link to them and see if you can also get inbound links by doing a link exchange or if you find review sites your site for review.
Now you should have quite a few quality inbound links to your site.

Small business Websites and Tangible Products

When marketing tangible products as a home based internet business it is good to do your homework.

Before you get started creating a small business website to promote a tangible product or a line of related products, do the necessary research to see if there is already a market. Use your related keywords and do research to find out if there are a number of adwords already targeting this market.

Then you have to strike a delicate balance and decide if there are too many marketers already targeting this niche of tangible products, or if there is still room for another website business to compete.

You will need a supplier of good quality products. So be sure you can have a steady supply of products before you make the final decision.

Price margin is another thing to consider. Can you make enough of a margin to make marketing your tangible products profitable?

Niche businesses are Profitable Internet Businesses

Niche businesses are the way to go on the internet if you want home based businesses that are profitable while avoiding massive competition.

Yes, adsense is not completely dead yet, but don't put all your eggs in one basket. Finding niches is a matter of finding something enough people are searching for who have the discretionery income to make a purchase.

Niches are a small area within a broader market. The advantage here is that the fortune 500 companies have no interest in serving these needs because the market is too small for them.
And, as a matter of fact, the fortune 500 companies are not interested in catering to the needs of the marketplaces they do have. They run on reputation and brand awareness that was developed before the internet was up to speed.

Look at the websites of some of these companies and see if there is not a crack in their wall you can sneak through and carve out a business niche for yourself.

Profitable Internet Businesses

Setting up Profitable businesses on the internet is easier than ever.

With the array of tools for building small business websites that are available both free and paid, building a website is easier than ever.

The problem with the internet, however, is that the message sent by many marketers leaves the impression that riches are instant and with no effort involved. Business is business whether it is offline or online.

For anyone coming online for the purpose of doing business on the internet, I would caution you not to believe these claims! Dollar for dollar, the internet is a great opportunity, but make no mistake about it there is work involved if you want to find success.
